It is amazing how many people seem interested in my travelling to Israel. People from very different professional backgrounds start discussing the Middle East, and seem to have opinions about almost everything - even though they may not define themselves as particularly political or anything. This is remarkable; also, because it is more or less what I experienced in Israel. Almost everybody, due to religious or historical education, seems to have images of Israel in his or her mind, and many of them simply want to know whether these images have anything to do with reality.
This is one of the main problems of the region. There can indeed be taken too much interest in one conflict; as they say, too many cooks spoil the broth.
