Skin worn thin

Well, conosco certainly got under Martin Roell's skin today. Interestingly, I immediately knew what agency he would be mentioning after the headline "Macromedia mit Flex 2 und Flash Player 8.5 auf der Web 2.0-Konferenz" , because I reed conosco's feed and they do post quite a lot about Macromedia.
Apparently, Martin who I'd consider a premium address for a pitch – if topic and tone are done right – was alienated by a mail he received by conosco, a German PR-agency. He is certainly one of the more influential German bloggers. However, he is also a consultant for the usage of social media in corporate communication, meaning, a mere press release sent via e-mail won't cut it.

He says himself "so far I have refrained from blogging about bad pr-agency's who sent me their press releases", but he must have had a bad morning, because he wrote a follow-up post, addressing professionalism and workmanship. I can only agree. I'd like to think of better using the 'new medium' weblogs than for just collecting new addresses, but handling these like regular journalists. I really liked Martin's post for another reason: It reminded me a bit of the adventures in a small PR-agency at the edge of town by Thomas Knuewer.
(and Martin, sorry about the double-trackback)

Thanks for your comment, Sebastian. (No problem with the trackback.)

Actually, if they had asked me if I was interested in their press releases first, I might have even considered reading them. (That their releases are terrible is an entirely different thing for this matter.) But simply spamming me is a bad idea.
